Brokers are compensated through a commission pay for each MASA membership sold and maintained as a renewal.
One of the great things about MASA is that you never need to wait for an enrollment period. Your clients can enroll in MASA memberships at any point in the year with coverage beginning at the start of the next month.
The MASA MTS membership benefit can be offered to groups as any of the following options: employer provided, cost sharing, payroll deduction, or bundled into the benefits offering.
Filing a claim with MASA MTS is extremely easy. Simply send the ambulance bill to MASA MTS with your member number clearly written on the front. You can either email your bill to email@example.com, fax it to 817-681-2399, or mail the invoice to: MASA MTS – Claims Department, 1250 S. Pine Island Road, Suite 500, Plantation, FL 33324. You can also log in and upload your bill or check the status of an existing claim in the “Members” section of our MASA MTS Web site.
MASA MTS is an extremely flexible benefit and easy addition to any benefits package. You can offer MASA MTS separately, or add it to your general health insurance. Because our coverage is so affordable and neatly fills the gaps left by most insurance providers, MASA MTS is an instant win. Not only will MASA MTS differentiate your offerings from other brokers, but also provides increased financial protection and complete peace of mind for your clients.
Due to our affordable coverage, self-insured employers can enjoy the same benefits as large corporations for the same cost. These benefits are a necessity for almost every citizen in the United States. With modern health insurance coverage leaving so many dangerous gaps, MASA MTS is a great way to protect your finances in the event of any emergency.
Due to the nature of modern health insurance, there’s a 50/50 chance that you could be responsible for a large portion of your emergency transportation bill. Even if health insurance covers part of your bill, there are many scenarios where they may not cover the total cost. The ambulance that picks you up may be out-of-network, the reason for your trip may not be deemed a medical necessity or you might still have to meet your health insurance deductible.
There are over 10,000 ambulance companies operating in the United States. Some companies are run by cities and states, others are run by local or national companies. Most insurance plans only cover in-network ambulance companies. Even if you’re heading to an in-network hospital, the ambulance itself could be out-of-network and leave you with a “balance bill”. MASA MTS offers coverage for ALL ambulance companies operating in the United States and other coverage areas, including Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas, Bermuda and the Caribbean (excluding Cuba). 99% of the time, our members are left with complete peace of mind after any ambulance trip.
In order for health insurance to accept an emergency medical transport claim, they first need to decide whether or not the ambulance trip was a medical necessity. Medical necessity is established when the patient’s condition requires emergency transport and any other means of medical transportation solutions (besides an ambulance) would endanger the individual’s health. Sounds pretty vague, right? In many situations it is, which is why it’s so important to protect yourself with comprehensive coverage like MASA MTS. Say you’re experiencing symptoms commonly associated with a heart attack and end up taking an ambulance to the hospital. If your health insurance decides that the cause of your symptoms (perhaps indigestion, heartburn, or a panic attack) doesn’t meet their requirements for an ambulance, they could deny your claim and leave you on the hook for thousands of dollars. At MASA MTS, we address your medical transport claims, even if your health insurance denies them.
The beauty of MASA is that we work with all emergency transportation providers. In the event of an emergency, simply call 911 and get yourself or your loved one to the hospital. When you get the bill from the ambulance company, just send it to MASA. There are thousands of ambulance companies operating throughout the United States and Canada. When you become a MASA member, you are effectively covered by every ambulance company within either country.

The short answer is NO. We have never denied an emergency medical air service claim and have denied less than 1% of all ambulance claims. Only extreme cases where members abuse the privileges of their MASA MTS membership will end up with a denied claim.
The average cost of a ground ambulance is $1,100 and the average cost of an air ambulance is $20,000. Depending on which provider picks you up, the personnel on board and the amount of miles you travel, your bill can get extremely expensive. In some cases, patients are transported to an air ambulance via ground ambulance. In those situations, the patient is responsible for both ambulance bills. In regards to long-distance flights, your bill can easily exceed $50,000.
Yes! Our goal is to leave you with complete peace of mind. We will cover all copays, even if you haven’t met your deductible.
